Lovelace State Coverage Insurance (SCI) is an innovative health insurance plan that provides coverage for uninsured working adults in New Mexico who are income qualified. The goal of the SCI program is to address New Mexico’s high rate of uninsured individuals and low rate of employer-sponsored health insurance coverage.
Lovelace SCI provides benefits similar to those provided by an employer HMO, but your premium payment amounts are dependent on your income. SCI works as a cost-sharing program, in which you (and your employer if participating) pay part of the premium and state and federal funds pay the rest. Some SCI members may qualify for no premium payments. Depending on your income level, co-payments for medical services may apply.
A word about enrollment
You may enroll into the Lovelace SCI program through an eligible and participating employer. You may also enroll as an individual without employer sponsorship. If you’re interested in participating in the SCI program as an individual, please complete the SCI Program Application directly below. Return the application to the SCI Income Support Division unit at the address listed on the application.
