Every member of the Lovelace Community
Health Plan must choose a Primary Care Physician or PCP. Your
PCP will handle all of your general care and refer you to a specialist
if necessary. After you have selected a PCP, or for personal
assistance in finding a PCP, call Customer Care Center at (505) 232-1860 or (800) 808-7363.
Choosing A Physician
Your primary care physician will play a big role in helping you maintain
a healthy lifestyle, as well as managing your care when you are ill.
Because of the importance of that relationship, finding a physician
is best done before you actually need one.
Our LCHP Customer Care representatives
can help you choose a physician in your area. If you have located
a physician through our Physicians Directory, or would like to
change your PCP, call Customer Care Center at (505) 232-1860 or (800) 808-7363.
Some questions to consider
before choosing a PCP:
Do you want a male or female physician?
Does the physician have any board certifications?
What are the office hours?Be prepared for your physician visit:
Be able to produce your medical history, including any allergies or current
medications.
Be truthful with your physician. He or she needs to have as much information
as possible to successfully treat you.
Listen to your physician and take notes on what he or she says or recommends.
