Lovelace Health Plan is currently servicing and will continue to service both its Commercial and Medicare members into 2014. Providers should continue providing care for our members, your patients, and to assist you in doing so, we have provided answers to some frequently asked questions. Click here for more information.

In response to the constantly evolving healthcare environment, Lovelace Health Plan (LHP) is introducing a new benefit offering for our individual and small group members both on- and off-exchange beginning January 1, 2014. LHP members will have the opportunity to access selected providers at a reduced member cost-share beginning next year.

Contracted LHP providers will continue to be able to provide care for LHP members under their existing contract at the contracted rates under the commercial rate exhibit. Unless selected for Tier I, all LHP contracted providers are considered in-network at the Tier II standard benefit level for our members.

ICD-10 is the new, broader dictionary that hospitals and physicians will use to describe medical services in patient charts and claims sent to payors. Beginning in October 2014, ICD-10 will replace ICD-9, which has been in use in the U.S. since 1979.

ICD-10 codes are designed to capture greater detail about a patient’s needs and conditions than ICD-9. As a result, ICD-10 will require greater specificity in clinical documentation at the point of care. More detailed documentation leads to better decisions and enables coders to find the correct codes, which supports faster payment and reduces the chance of denial.

Lovelace Health Plan has dedicated time and resources to help providers prepare for the transition. During the coming months, resource materials will be made available for providers, as well as updated information concerning the transition.

If you have any questions regarding ICD-10, please email us at or call 855.838.2966. You can also visit the federal CMS website at for more information on the ICD-10 transition.

At Lovelace Health Plan, we’re committed to ensuring our providers easy access to information critical to the business of health care, as well as an array of resources to help you keep your patients educated, informed and healthy.
